In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar, Ghost frontman Tobias Forge revealed his thoughts about being the opening act for major bands like Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters and Iron Maiden.
Here’s the statement:
“We’ve opened for Iron Maiden, Guns N’ Roses, and the Foo Fighters and we opened for Metallica a year ago in America. It came off so well because we had done so many tours before and when we came to these cities, we weren’t a complete unknown. We gave the punters an excuse to show up a little earlier.
If you’re a complete unknown, a spot like that might even be a little bit of a waste because you end up playing in front of very few people because most people show up after you’ve played.”
Interviewer said “What was it like opening for some of those other bands?” and Tobias responded:
“On the Iron Maiden tour, we basically had full houses by the time we got to the end of our set and it was sold out every night. We turned so many heads over on that tour and we’re hoping knock wood that the European tour will have a similar effect.
We’ve been touring Europe a lot already since eight years back and now having this elevated position before a band like Metallica in stadiums that swallow 70,000 people and if we’re playing in front of 35,000 or 40,000 people every night that’s very good. We can never do that on our own.”
Ghost’s latest album “Prequelle” was released on June 1, 2018. In another interview with 100.5 The KATT radio, Tobias said that new Ghost album might be arrive next year.
