Ghost frontman Tobias Forge spoke in an interview with 98KUPD and revealed that how to become a professional artist.
Here’s the statement:
“A lot of artists that are maybe not so professional, what they can eventually get is a little bit of a sort of a rude awakening.
If you want to be a professional artist – unless you are out-of-this-world different, you might have a shock as to how repetitive it is, and also the fact that it’s not also very creative.
I like to compare it to – it’s like being an architect and a carpenter. You draw the house, that’s creative, that’s what you are creating
Then comes the not-so-interesting part, to get all the paperwork and permissions. You have to build, that’s not creative at all because you have to follow the blueprint, and it’s labor.
I think that is the one thing that gets you shocked like, ‘I don’t want to do the same thing over and over.’ ‘Well, you have to. It’s a job.’
If you are popular and people want you to play there, there, and there, they don’t want you to re-create your entire thing every night. They want to hear the songs that they really heard.
You have to like do that, and just as much as an architect or a carpenter, you expect what’s on the paper to materialize on this house. You have to think of it as a restaurant; you’re known for your food, serve it.”
