Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong took his official Instagram account and announced that he won’t be using social media for a while to take attention to the important topic.

Most of the people in the world started to protest the death of George Floyd and stand against racism. Also, celebrities shared their supports from their social media accounts to be the voice of these protests.

Billie Joe was criticizing the government for the racist decisions they made and showed his support to the black people. Today, Billie stated that he won’t be sharing any more posts on Instagram because he wanted to create space within Instagram’s algorithm to amplify the voices of Black people who need to be heard.

Additionally, Billie closed the comment section of this post, but you can see that everybody is supporting this act of Billie by liking the post over 30K times less than four hours.

“In solidarity and observance of the #amplifymelanatedvoices movement, I will be refraining from posting content on this platform to create space within Instagram’s algorithm to amplify the voices and experiences of Black people who need to be heard. Listen. Learn.”
