Slash, the iconic lead guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, has commemorated one of the founders of the 20th century’s music culture and legendary jazz musician, Ronald Bell, after he passed away this week, on September 9.
Slash has taken Instagram to pray for the Kool & the Gang legend, Ronald Bell, and to show that he is in pain after this sorrowful loss. It was announced that Bell died at his home in the US Virgin Islands earlier this week, at age 68. The cause of death was not given.
Also known as Khalis Bayyan, Ronald Bell was one of the founder members of the 1970s and 1980s pop band Kool & the Gang. They became one of the era’s most popular and influential soul and funk bands, with hits including ‘Celebration,’ ‘Ladies’ Night,’ and ‘Get Down On It.’
The band was honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Produced songs for several films including Saturday Night Fever, and Pulp Fiction, Kool & the Gang received a Grammy in 1978.
Here is what Slash said in his latest Instagram post about Ronald Bell:
