During in a recent interview with Billboard, Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale has revealed what she learned from legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen.

Interviewer asked what she thinks about Van Halen reunion and Lzzy responded:

“I was hanging out with some of our friends in Nashville recently and they’re like, “Did you hear?” I was like, “Come on, guys, this is wishful thinking.” But I would totally go see it.

The last tour like that that I saw that came through Nashville was Cheap Trick, Heart and Joan Jett, and they’re all in their upper sixties and it was just amazing. These are life goals. I need to see this stuff before everybody starts hanging up their hats.”

On what she learned from Eddie Van Halen, she said:

“Absolutely (we were influenced by him). But in the beginning, I was attracted to the fact that he played keyboards and guitar. In my world before I knew about Eddie Van Halen, I was playing piano, and at that point in my teenage life I thought he was just a guitar player. I wanted to be a multi-instrumentalist.

But I learned Eddie played keys, too, from some live footage on a VHS tape from my mom and dad, and that lightbulb goes off that that’s possible. I could look at this guy and see him play piano and be a badass. I knew I didn’t have to be embarrassed about taking piano lessons.”
