Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams shared a post on her official Instagram page stating that everyone should be praising women nominations for the rock categories of The Grammy’s rather than being sorry for Paramore not being nominated for this year.
As you may know, the 2021 Grammy’s complete nominees’ list has just announced on their official website, and there is a total of 83 categories. When it comes to the best rock performance, the nominees are all female with ‘Shameika’ by Fiona Apple, ‘Kyoto’ by Phoebe Bridgers, ‘The Steps’ by Haim, ‘Stay High’ by Brittany Howard, and ‘Daylight’ by Grace Potter.
Since both rock and metal categories have been male-dominated up until today, both fans and musicians are thrilled to see the best rock performance category filled with female nominees.
However, some fans seem to be not happy with seeing the nominees list without Paramore and apparently, have been sending messages to frontwomen Hayley Williams expressing their disappointment.
Hayley Williams recently shared a post on her official Twitter page thanking fans for their support, yet stressing that all should be supporting and celebrating women who were nominated. Williams also stated that Paramore was nominated multiple times and even won a Grammy.
Here is what William stated in her latest tweet:
“Stop sending me sorry’s for not getting a nom LOL pmore been nominated lots and even won. thank you for your sweetness but stop! the women leading the rock and alt nom’s are the story and the moment.”
As you may remember, Paramore’s single ‘Ain’t It Fun’ won the first Grammy Award of the band, out of four nominations, in the category Best Rock Song.
