The guitar tech Greg Howard had an exclusive interview with Ultimate Guitar to talk about how he decided to start his musical career, working with icons and bands including Jimmy Page, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Green Day, and more.
Greg Howard is one of the well-known guitar techs in the music scene and he recently started a company named ‘3 Monkeys’ that sells stuff for musicians, from amplifiers to solderless cables. In his long-time career, he joined many bands in their gigs as an amp designer and builder as well as setting up their musical equipment.
In the interview he had with Ultimate Guitar, Greg was asked to share the most ‘spinal tab’ thing that he’s ever seen happen on tour. The iconic guitar tech recalled the day he was touring with Green Day, and the frontman Billie Joe Armstrong split the crotch of his jeans. He also shared how Billie changed his pants since there was no quick-change booth at the festival.
Greg shared the story saying:
“That’s a tough one. I don’t know if this rates as ‘Spinal Tap’, but Billie Joe Armstrong split the crotch of his jeans at one show.
We were doing a huge outdoor festival and there was no quick change booth, so Billie came over to our guitar world and while a couple of us held towels up, the wardrobe girl helped change his sweaty pants in about a minute, it’s was like a NASCAR pit stop!”
