One of the most followed Queen / Freddie Mercury fan pages of the whole social media, Freddie Mercury Club, has posted the cover photos of ‘Made In Heaven’ and recalled little-known stories about how Freddie Mercury has managed to record songs during his illness.
As you might already know, Made In Heaven was the first-ever release of Queen after Freddie Mercury has passed away in 1991. In four years, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon worked really hard to fix the vocal and piano parts that Freddie recorded before passing away.
In this latest post of Freddie Mercury Club, they have shared the details of how Freddie Mercury recorded many vocals despite he’s suffering from AIDS. After sharing the details of the recording process, the fan page also asked other fans’ favorite songs from the legendary album.
Here is what’s written on the caption of the post:
“After Freddie Mercury’s death, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon worked with vocal and piano parts that Mercury recorded before his death, adding fresh instrumentation to the recordings. Both stages of recording, before and after Mercury’s death, were completed at the band’s studio in Montreux, Switzerland.
In early 1991, having completed work on Innuendo, and some months before his death, Freddie Mercury recorded as many vocals as he could, with the instruction to the rest of the band to complete the songs later.
May describes the sessions as such:
“By the time we were recording these other tracks after Innuendo, we had had the discussions and we knew that we were totally on borrowed time because Freddie had been told that he would not make it to that point. I think our plan was to go in there whenever Freddie felt well enough, just to make as much use of him as much as possible, we basically lived in the studio for a while, and when he would call and say,
‘I can come in for a few hours’, our plan was to just make as much use of him as we could, you know he told us, ‘Get me to sing anything, write me anything and I will sing it and I will leave you as much as I possibly can.'”
