Each year the 8th of March is celebrated by millions of people all around the world, as a day to commemorate the cultural, political, and socioeconomic achievements of women. International Womens Day is of high importance for women all around the world as it is a day in which women and their allies can bring attention to crucial issues such as gender equality, violence against women, reproductive rights, and many more.

Of course, such a day was also celebrated by the women of the rock scene some of whom disclosed how difficult it is to be a female rockstar. Firstly, Taylor Momsen, who just released a new album with The Pretty Reckless which achieved great success, posted a series of photos with the women who have inspired her throughout her career. She celebrated the Women’s Day of rock frontwoman Joan Jett, actress and singer Debbie Harry or as better known Blondie, and Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale.

Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale didn’t post any personal photos but reminded her fans of the ‘Song of Women‘ that she released last year in collaboration with The HU, and in the caption, she included its powerful lyrics. On the other hand, Avril Lavigne posted some photos of herself wearing a crown and told her followers not to forget their crown today. She also said that she hopes they feel like a ‘Mother F*kin’ Princess,’ like Avril says she is in her record-breaking song ‘Girlfriend.’

The world-renown Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee also posted a photo on her Instagram account and celebrated Women’s Day with a very special playlist that she created especially for this day. Finally, the model and singer Sophie Simmons, Gene Simmons’ daughter, also celebrated Women’s Day by posting a series of photos of all the women that have inspired her throughout her lifetime while saying that there have been so many that it’s impossible to fit all of them in one post.

Here’s what Taylor Momsen said:

“Happy International Women’s Day, Rock and Roll.”

This is what Lzzy Hale wrote under the lyrics of ‘Song of Women’:

“Go listen to ‘Song Of Women,’ send it to the powerful women you know. Happy International Women’s Day. Song by: The HU and Lzzy Hale of Halestorm… Photo by Joe Hottinger.”

Here’s what Avril Lavigne said:

“Happy International Women’s Day. Don’t forget your crown today!👸 I hope you all are feeling like a ‘Mother Fuckin Princess.’ Happy International Women’s Day.”

This is what Amy Lee wrote:

“Celebrating International Women’s Day with a very special playlist I put together. Listen exclusively on Apple Music (Link in bio).”

Here’s what Sophie Simmons wrote in the caption of her Instagram post:

“Happy International Women’s Day. Here are just a few women in my life who I love, and work with, and who inspire me 💕 It’s impossible to fit absolutely everyone in this post… But there are many more I wish I could tag.”
