In an interview with SiriusXM, Metallica icon James Hetfield talked about how he had been spending the lockdown days due to the coronavirus pandemic and confirmed that he wrote ‘tons of material‘ for the new Metallica projects.
Since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the music industry experienced a sort of recession period. Most of the musicians, who were accustomed to being on the road all the time, had to spend most of their time at home.
Recently, Metallica legend James Hetfield joined a conversation with SiriusXM and answered questions about how he had been spending his time during the self-quarantine days. During the interview, Hetfield mentioned how challenging it was to stay at home for a long time since they were ‘road dogs.’
Furthermore, James Hetfield stated that as someone who used to be on the road constantly, he had to focus his energy on something else, which was writing new music. According to his statements, James had already written tons of material that they could use for a possible new Metallica album.
Here’s what James Hetfield stated during the conversation concerning the possible new Metallica album:
“For me, and I don’t wanna sound ungrateful, ’cause I know there’s a lot of people out there that are struggling because of this Covid-19. Where I live, it’s all service industry. And, obviously, the music industry, it’s tough — it’s taken a big hit.
For us, we’re road dogs — we’ve been out on the road forever — so you’re either on the road or you’re writing. So the obvious thing is, ‘Well, we’re not on the road. Start writing.’ So, I’ve written tons of material. And I’m sure there are lots of musicians out there that are just, like, ‘Okay, what can I do? I’m gonna write and just get into that,’ which I love doing.”
