Metallica’s frontman James Hetfield wrote the lyrics of all songs on their latest album “Hardwired … To Self-Destruct.” Almost all of the album is based on the riffs he has created. Which song is his favorite song?
In an interview with Deezer, he asked James what his favorite song was. He said:
“It’s really difficult to answer that question because I love them all and they’re still fresh for me. When I think, ‘That’s my favorite,’ it’s, ‘Oh, now the video has actually made this my favorite!’
I’m blessed that I like them all, but I think ‘Dream No More’ is one of my favorites – just heavy! And scary. [Laughs] ‘The Thing That Should Not Be’, you know, that department.”
He also explained when the song “Murder One” they made in memory of Lemmy Kilmister was made. He said:
“The lyrics came after his passing, yeah. I think that was a song, most of the songs didn’t really have lyrics till towards the end, they have vocal patterns or something when we’re writing. “Hey I hear singing over this riff, Ok I don’t know what that is yet” but at the end, it’s like puzzle for me which is great a lot of fun, a challenge.
But Lemmy’s passing, I don’t know… I don’t know how i started, I just thought it would be really great to pay an homage, pay attention to what Lemmy means to us and how important he was in Metallica who they are.“
