Speaking in an interview with InJupiter, former Metallica bassist Jason Newsted revealed why he feel so good that playing in The Chophouse. He also compared his new band and former bands.

Here’s the statement:

“The primal nature of these songs that we play with The Chophouse Band is what makes it all so attractive to me. After being in these loud, earth-shifting bands to stripping back from all the hundreds of thousands of watts of amplifiers and effects, I realized that there are ways to get to the purity of the music quicker.

I went to the other end of the spectrum to rediscover myself and learned a new style of playing with the acoustic guitar, and it just feels right to play these songs live. It’s a fun, joyful vehicle to get our ya-ya’s out.

I got to join my favorite band (Metallica). I got real, real fucking lucky and got to travel around the world five times. Just imagine being in a dreamlike state for 15 years—that is the only way I could sum up what the experience entailed. Suffice it to say, I had too much fun.
