Alice in Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell posted a photo of himself on Instagram, taking a picture of the band’s late vocalist Layne Staley‘s poster and remembered his old-time friend.

As you might recall, Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley, known for his distinct vocal style, sadly passed away in 2002. Layne was only 34 years old when his body was found at his house two weeks after his death. His sudden death was caused by a mixture of heroin and cocaine called ‘speedball.’

The talented guitarist of Alice in Chains, Jerry Cantrell co-founded the band with the drummer Sean Kinney in 1987. Since then, Jerry played with Staley and later with William DuVall who replaced the late vocalist.

On a recent Instagram post, Jerry shared a picture of himself while taking a photo of Layne Staley’s poster he encountered while driving. Apparently, the sudden coincidence made Jerry nostalgic about his memories with his beloved bandmate.

On the caption of his post, Jerry stated his feelings about Layne Staley:

That’s my boy. 🤘🏻
