Alice In Chains guitarist Jerry Cantrell recently joined Andy Hall for an interview on Andy’s Hall Pass. During the interview, he revealed his reaction to James Hetfield‘s emotional response to receiving compliments from Elton John.
Metallica celebrated their iconic ‘The Black Album’s 30th anniversary with a new cover album titled ‘The Metallica Blacklist.’ The album features 53 different artists and their covers of songs from ‘The Black Album’ including Corey Taylor, Cage The Elephant, Miley Cyrus, Elton John, and more.
Metallica members recently made an appearance on The Howard Stern Show along with Miley Cyrus and Elton John. During the episode, they talked about the brand new ‘Nothing Else Matters’ cover. Moreover, Elton John revealed his thoughts about the iconic song and complimented Metallica sincerely. Following his speech, James Hetfield was moved to tears.
In an interview on Andy’s Hall Pass, the host Andy Hall asked Jerry Cantrell if he saw Hetfield’s reaction over being complimented by Elton John. Cantrell stated that he saw the footage and praised the song by saying it is one of the best songs of all time.
Following that, Jerry commented on the footage by stating that it was a special moment between Hetfield and Elton John. He also mentioned that James was someone who he has admired his whole life as a songwriter and a guitar player.
Asked if he knows about the incident, Jerry Cantrell told Andy’s Hall Pass that:
“I did see that, and it is one of the best songs of all time. James is somebody that I’ve admired my whole life as a songwriter and a guitar player. That was a pretty special thing to see between Elton and him.”
