Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson recently announced that the band will be releasing their first new full-length studio album in 18 years named ‘The Zealot Gene‘ via a statement on the band’s official website. The new record will be out in 2022, and they have already released a brand new single, ‘Shoshana Sleeping.’

As many of you know, Jethro Tull was first formed in 1967, and since then, they have been one of the most commercially successful and eccentric progressive rock bands of all time.

Their most recent album, ‘The Jethro Tull Christmas Album,’ was released September 30, 2003. It is a mix of the band’s new material and the re-recordings of their own suitably themed material and arrangements of traditional Christmas music.

Following their successful 2003 album, their fans have been waiting patiently for them to release a new one. Jethro Tull finally announced that they are going to be releasing their 22nd studio record. Their new album, ‘The Zealot Gene,’ is planned to be released on January 28, 2022.

To give their fans a taste of their new material, they already put out a lead single named ‘Shoshana Sleeping’ on their official YouTube channel. Frontman Ian Anderson shared the details of the upcoming record on the band’s official website and apparently, it will include 12 tracks total with songs such as ‘Mrs. Tibbets,’ ‘Sad City Sisters,’ and ‘Three Loves, Three.’

On their website, Anderson penned:

“While I have a spot of genuine fondness for the pomp and fairytale story-telling of the Holy Book, I still feel the need to question and draw sometimes unholy parallels from the text.

The good, the bad, and the downright ugly rear their heads throughout, but are punctuated with elements of love, respect, and tenderness.”

The entire tracklist of the album follows:

“1. Mrs. Tibbets (5:54)
2. Jacob’s Tales (2:13)
3. Mine Is The Mountain (5:40)
4. The Zealot Gene (3:54)
5. Shoshana Sleeping (3:41)
6. Sad City Sisters (3:40)
7. Barren Beth, Wild Desert John (3:37)
8. The Betrayal Of Joshua Kynde (4:06)
9. Where Did Saturday Go? (3:53)
10. Three Loves, Three (3:30)
11. In Brief Visitation (3:00)
12. The Fisherman Of Ephesus (3:41)”
