Led Zeppelin’s founder and legendary guitarist, Jimmy Page, recently posted a photo on his Instagram account and shared one of the Led Zeppelin albums he’s the proudest of which helped the iconic band to reach the fame they enjoy today.
You probably know that Jimmy Page really enjoys using his social media accounts and in specific, his Instagram account. However, in comparison to other rockstars, for Jimmy Page, his Instagram is his archive where he can share photos from years ago, recall the days that he deems unforgettable, pay his respects to artists, and tell interesting stories.
As you may recall, ‘Led Zeppelin‘ was the band’s debut album and was released in 1969 by Atlantic Records. The album was recorded a year before its release but the recording sessions took place before the band had secured a recording contract. However, Jimmy Page and Led Zeppelin’s manager Peter Grant had put their faith in Led Zeppelin and paid for the expenses which totaled up to approximately £30,000 (today’s worth).
The album was produced by Jimmy Page and upon its release, ‘Led Zeppelin’ was immediately commercially successful which as you know, is very rare. The album ranked in the Top 10 in both the United States and the United Kingdom and it even reached Number 1 in Spain. Obviously, a success story like this one had to be told and there couldn’t be a better narrator than the band’s founder who fully supported Led Zeppelin both materially and emotionally since day one.
Here’s what Jimmy Page said in the caption of his recent Instagram post:
“On this day in 1969, ‘Led Zeppelin I‘ was released in the USA.
Produced by me and immediately following the historic run of concerts at San Francisco’s Fillmore. The intervention of a new attitude for the airwaves ⚡️
This LP was to present four master musicians and the communion of music with no fear, no compromise, and an audible statement that would be groundbreaking and radical.
What’s your ultimate track from ‘Led Zeppelin I?'”
