Jimmy Page, the founder and guitarist of Led Zeppelin, has recalled the legendary night he surprised his fans by playing with Fender Telecaster rather than the Gibson Les Paul.
Page has shared a throwback post in which he revealed a rare picture of himself taken when he was playing with Fender Telecaster instead of Gibson Les Paul, which the fans were more used to see him with.
Jimmy Page remembered the times when he took over as lead guitarist for The Yardbirds after Jeff Beck was hospitalized and shared a memory from 1967 when the band traveled from Toronto, Canada over the border to the US to play two shows at the Fifth Dimension Club.
Page also added that he previously performed at the same venue in December 1966 with Fender Telecaster. He shared the photos of the guitar which was designed in the 50s and has become one of the most popular guitars of all time together with Gibson Les Paul.
Here is what Page said on his latest Instagram post:
“On this day in 1967, The Yardbirds travelled from Toronto, Canada over the border to the US to play two shows at the Fifth Dimension Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
I also performed at the same venue in December 1966; here are a few cool photos with the Fender Telecaster 🐉🎸💫”
