The founding member and also the guitarist and composer of Dream Theater, John Petrucci, has been recently interviewed by Ultimate Guitar’s Justin Beckner and talked about the upcoming Liquid Tension Experiment record as well as the upcoming projects of Dream Theater.

As you might already know, John Petrucci and his friends Jordan Rudess, Tony Levin, and Mike Portnoy have announced the Liquid Tension Experiment 3 last year and the album is now available for pre-order for a price of £15.50.

The album will feature eight never-released-before songs which are a mix of four fully composed tracks, two duets, one on-the-fly jam, and 1 meticulously arranged cover. Fans can also buy the Boxset and Vinyl Edition via InsideOut. LTE3 will be released on March 26th, 2021.

Besides Liquid Tension Experiment, Petrucci is working on a new Dream Theater album for a while and announced that they went back to the studio with Dream Theater just after finishing LTE3 and they had two prototypes so far but he chose not to give any release date yet.

Here is what Petrucci said:

“Dream Theater went back into the studio after Liquid Tension. We went back in the fall, and we’ve been working on an album that is going to come out later this year.

It’s coming out awesome, and there is, indeed, an 8-string song on the record. So, we’ve been working on an 8-string. It’s an 8-string Majesty.”

He continued:

“We have two prototypes so far. I was able to use one to write with and record with. We’re still working some things out to get it perfect. But it will be on the record and it will be something that comes out at some point.

I don’t have a release date on it yet, but it’s awesome. It’s totally inspiring and awesome and I can’t wait for people to hear it. I’m so glad it made it on the new record. In due time, you’ll be able to see it and hear it.”
