John Petrucci hasn’t released a new solo album since 2005’s “Suspended Animation”. On this issue, he talked in an interview with Australian Musician. He said:
“I feel a little guilty. We just announced the new G3 tour and I’m thinking to myself, ‘I still don’t have a solo album to do another G3 tour.’
My biggest thing I’ve been saying, and it sounds like an old excuse – as you probably seen with Dream Theater’s schedule, it’s really hard to break away to get the time to be able to do that.
Just as an example, after this Asian tour, we go straight into a US tour, hit the holidays, then G3 starts. It’s kind of a continuous thing, but I will find a way.
I have a lot of material. I have played some of it live without a second album actually released. I’ll continue to do that. So yes, I’m going to do it.”
