Glenn Tipton, lead guitarist of Judas Priest, left the band because of Parkinson’s disease. 

According to a statement released by the band, the disease’s progression has left him unable to play the heavy metal band’s more complex material.

Actually, ten years ago he was diagnosed with the onset of the early stages of Parkinson’s disease. The band stated:

“From then until recently Glenn has lived his life as the great heavy metal guitar player he has always been, maintaining by his own definition a standard of quality and performance that is incredibly important.

Glenn Tipton stated:

“I want everyone to know that it’s vital the Judas Priest tour go ahead and that I am not leaving the band. It’s simply that my role has changed. I don’t rule out the chance to go on stage as and when I feel able to blast out some Priest!”.

British metal band Judas Priest’s new album “Firepower” will be released on March 9th. The song, which gave the album its name, was released a months agou. You can listen to it from here.
