Kirk Hammett did not make any contribution to Metallica’s latest album “Hardwired … To Self-Destruct”.

Kirk Hammett said he lost his phone and because of that, he not any contribute on their latest album. Almost 200 riffs was gone. After that, he did remember only 4 (four) of these riffs.

Now there is a new confession by Kirk. In an interview with Mike On Much, he reveals a shocking statement about the riffs. He said:

“If I can’t actually remember [the musical idea] just by picking up my guitar, it’s probably not that good.

I’m saying this after a lot of thought about how music used to be composed before we had things like tape recorders and digital recorders. It was all remembered, and they could only remember the best stuff.

When they sat down back in the ’20s, ’30s, ’40s, ’50s, ’60s, up until ’70s, they had to remember whatever they played – remember how abstract that feel was or how weird that feel was.

I’ve kind of adopted that sort of attitude – if I can’t remember it at any point, then maybe it just wasn’t good enough.

As you may or may not know, Kirk has zero songwriting credits on “Hardwired… To Self-Destruct”. Click here, if you want to watch entire interview.
