Lacuna Coil frontwoman Cristina Scabbia posted a selfie on her Instagram account and shared the story of the two red stripes she had on her right eye.

The 48-year-old Italian singer, Cristina Scabbia joined the gothic metal band Lacuna Coil soon after its formation in 1994.  Last year, the band released their ninth studio album named ‘Black Anima.’

Recently on Instagram, Cristina Scabbia posted a photo of herself showing the red stripes she had above her right eye. On the caption of her post, Christina explained the reason why she had these lines on her face which was related to a tragic loss in her life.

Apparently, Cristina Scabbia lost both of her beloved parents and struggled to overcome their loss ever since. However, she wanted to have a reminder of her struggles which she managed to survive eventually and continue to live her life. Christina also mentioned that even though it seemed impossible to overcome the problems, she found a way to recover.

Here’s what Cristina Scabbia stated on the caption of her recent post:

“I get a lot of questions about the two stripes/scars above my right eye.
‘Where do they come from?’ ‘What inspired you to do those?’ ‘Why this face painting?’

It all started as a tribute after I lost my beloved parents, my reasons to live, my mentors, my lights, my everything.

Those two red lines are a reminder that no matter how hard life can be and how deeply scarred we are, we can still survive, go on proudly and fiercely, and carrying the torch even though these scars are hurting at times.”

She continued:

“Sometimes is hard to breathe, we look at ourselves in the mirror of our cars and man, it’s hard to find reasons to go on…but once we touch the bottom and we find the strength to rise we become bulletproof and limitless.

There is a reason why is such a classic to say ‘what doesn’t kill you make you stronger.’

You, out there.
Yes, I am talking to you: Today is your day to rise.
No excuses, stand up, now.”
