Lady Gaga, a successful singer and actress with versatility, shared a picture on her official Instagram page for her new make-up line. Gaga’s tattoo of the legendary singer David Bowie in the picture took fans’ attention, here is the story of this beautiful tattoo and the love Gaga has for Bowie.

In 2016, a day before her performance for David Bowie Tribute at the Grammy Awards, Lady Gaga solidified her love of the legendary artist with a tattoo, a portrait of Bowie on the side of her body.

Lady Gaga explained her admiration for Bowie and the story of her tattoo. The tattoo is from the iconic cover of Bowie’s album Alaaddin Sane and according to Gaga, the image changed her life. And she also explained why she fell in love with David Bowie and how his artistry and he made Gaga realize her purpose.

Here is what she said about Bowie:

“When I fell in love with David Bowie, when I was living on the Lower East Side, I always felt that his glamor was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls. He is a true, true artist and I don’t know if I ever went, ‘Oh, I’m going to be that way like this,’ or if I arrived upon it slowly, realizing it was my calling and that’s what drew me to him.”

For her meaningful tattoo, Gaga also had Mahoney, the tattoo artist, add a small star to one of Bowie’s eyelids, an homage to his album Blackstar, which was released two days before his death in January. The image was a perfect symbol for Gaga’s love and respect for Bowie.
