Lamb of God frontman Randy Bylthe has shared a photo of a mysterious woman and wrote that ‘this year, THIS WOMAN will be my role model’.

Here’s the Randy’s interesting story about that woman:

“Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had an enjoyable & safe New Year’s Eve. I woke up today thinking about the coming year, & what I hoped to accomplish during it- there’s a ton of stuff I want to do, in fact too much– my brain is a freaking monkey house of screeching ideas. I need to finish some creative projects I’ve already started, & I want begin about a thousand more. I want to spend more time with my family. I want to get rid of a ton of possessions.

I want to surf more & up my skill level. I want to be of service to others in different ways. I want treat my body better, because I’m getting older & it HURTS (oh yes, it hurts.) I want to spend more time outdoors. I want to focus & improve as a photographer who makes photos with purpose & meaning.

I want to do a zillion things, & I already do a lot, but sometimes I get paralyzed, because the world is insane, & so am I a bit. When I get overwhelmed to the point of inertia, I need to look for a role model. This year, THIS WOMAN will be my role model.

I was walking in busy downtown Manhattan with my friend Kevin (RC Wilson, photographer) shooting photos. The streets were crowded with fast-walking New Yorkers, about 75% of them talking or looking at their cellphones, hurrying & rushing & (many of them) looking insanely stressed out.

Then up the block towards us came this old woman- she was bent over, walking very slowly. She couldn’t raise her head to look too far ahead of her, & she wasn’t glued to a cellphone. She was just moving forward, on her own power, slowly but with a singleness of purpose- she didn’t look distracted at all.

She wasn’t trying to impress anyone, or multi-task her life between 6th & 7th Avenue, she was simply focused on getting where she was going, calm & unbothered in the middle of the chaos that is NYC. She was MAGNIFICENT- what a beautiful woman. She is my role model this year.

-Steady ahead, Captain Blythe…”
