Lars Ulrich shared a post on his official Instagram account dedicated to Metallica’s fans and their 40th anniversary. The musician thanked every single one of their fans for supporting them for four decades and making all this possible.

Metallica was formed in 1981 by vocalist James Hetfield and drummer Lars Ulrich after the duo met following Ulrich’s ad in the newspaper. From then on, the band managed to become one of the pioneering acts of the ‘big four’ trash bands alongside Megadeth, Anthrax, and Slayer.

Throughout their music career, the band achieved countless successes in every aspect of their career, as Metallica is one of the most commercially successful bands of all time. Their list of awards is also impressive since they have won nine Grammy Awards out of 23 nominations.

All their ten albums enjoyed increasing success, and in fact, Metallica’s last six studio albums have consecutively debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. These are a few reasons why Metallica has dominated the music scene for the past 40 years and is regarded as one of the greatest bands.

This year, the band announced their ‘Forty Years Of Metallica’ shows to celebrate their fourth decade in the industry. The concerts were live-streamed through several platforms free of charge, including Amazon Prime Video, The Coda Collection, and Amazon Music.

Following the performances, Lars Ulrich shared a post on his official Instagram account, expressing his emotions after their fans’ overwhelming reaction and support for their shows. The musician didn’t want to repeat himself but still wanted to thank the band’s fans with a special message.

In his post, Ulrich stated that Metallica fans have kept the band real, inspired, and alive with their support. In addition to this, the drummer said their fans are the reason why the band has managed to rock and stay relevant after forty years of entering the metal scene.

Ulrich’s caption in his IG post follows:

“Overf*ckinwhelmed!

It’s taking me two days just to start coming down from this otherworldly experience…
Over the course of the last week, you’ve heard me do a few speeches and say a lot of things, so since I don’t wanna repeat myself (too much!), I’ll keep this one on the short side.

THANK YOU!

Metallica is not me or you. Metallica is all of us. It’s a state of mind that we all share, it’s a destination we all seek out, it’s an element that keeps us alive, it’s our common purpose.

You keep this real. You keep us inspired and alive. It is because of you this thing exists.”

He continued:

“40 years?!

Who would’ve fucking thought that this, whatever this is, could live and breathe this long, could still connect people, could still be somewhat relevant, and still exist forty years later?!

Thank you to each and every one of you for making it happen.

Thank you to each and every one of you for believing in the possibility of music.

Thank you to each and every one of you for being Metallica.”
