Although many fans recognize Robert Plant for his career as Led Zeppelin’s lead singer and lyricist, the legendary rocker has more talents under his sleeve. While there’s no doubt that Plant has an endless passion for music, fans are often surprised to find out about his lesser-known affair.

The musician also has enthusiasm for a completely different field than music, and that is soccer. Being a fan of one particular football club his entire life, the musician has accomplished something that no other fan could achieve. Plant became the vice-president of the club he has supported since he was only five years old, and we’re here today to dig into this success story.

Robert Plant Is A Lifelong Soccer Fan

For those of you who don’t know, the 73-year-old rocker has been a football fan since a young age. Since he was a little kid, he’s been a supporter of Wolverhampton Wanderers Football Club and has visited Molineux Stadium numerous times.

During an interview with the Guardian, the Led Zeppelin icon revealed that his father took him to his first match at Molineux Stadium when the star was only five years old. After seeing the game, Plant became a big football fan and started supporting Wolverhampton Wanderers.

In his own words, Plant said:

“I have followed Wolves for 65 years; it’s a place of solace, where you know it’s not always going to be plain sailing. It started when my dad took me to see them play Liverpool when I was 5, and I thought Billy Wright waved at me.

I didn’t take into account that there were 15,000 people standing on that side of the ground. Years later, I met Billy at Tiswas when he was head of ATV sport. It was like Zeppelin meeting Elvis.”

After years of playing football in his spare time and being spotted while wearing Wolverhampton Wanderers jerseys, Robert Plant accomplished something that carried his admiration to the club into a whole another level.
