The official Instagram account of Led Zeppelin icon Jimmy Page posted a photo of the Yardbirds taken soon after the release of their song ‘Happenings Ten Years Time Ago’ and shared the unknown details about its recording.
As you may recall, the co-founder and guitarist of Led Zeppelin, Jimmy Page had his initial experience of playing in a band with The Yardbirds. The Yardbirds was widely known for its inventive style combining blues and rhythm with rock music.
The Yardbirds was also known for starting the careers of the three most iconic guitarists of all time, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck. Page actually joined the band right after Eric Clapton left in 1965.
Recently, the official Instagram account of Jimmy Page posted another historical photo of the iconic musician as a part of the ‘On this day‘ series. In the latest frame he shared, Jimmy was posing with his previous bandmates from The Yardbirds.
On the caption of his post, Page mentioned the photo was actually taken on the same day that their 1966 single ‘Happenings Ten Years Time Ago‘ was released. Apparently, Page and his bandmate Jeff Beck were on electric guitars on this particular song which was the only single featuring this unique arrangement. ‘Happenings Ten Years Time Ago’ was considered groundbreaking for the time especially with the special effects and dual lead guitars by Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page.

“On this day in 1966, The Yardbirds played at The Comic Strip in Worcester, Massachusetts; the same day that the single Happenings Ten Years Time Ago was released.⠀

Happenings Ten Years Time Ago featured Jeff and myself on electric guitars. In fact, this is the only single that featured this arrangement and I had something to do with writing this. It’s an intriguing interplay of the guitars; Jeff is in fantastic form on this one. The Yardbirds had had a run of hits but, as cool as this single was, it didn’t continue the run of chart success for the band.”
