During a recent interview with ‘Talkin’ Rock With Meltdown,’ Grey Daze drummer Sean Dowdell talked about the relationship with late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington through the years.

While talking about their relationship and band days, Dowdell has claimed that Chester Bennington was better than Pearl Jam lead vocalist Eddie Vedder.

Here’s what Sean Dowdell stated:

“At the time, we were best of friends. And then he went out to Linkin Park and put out the first record [2000’s ‘Hybrid Theory’] – we talked about mid-cycle after the first record and reconciled and were fast friends again.”

He continued:

“I was 17 when I met Chester, and when he came in to audition for the band he was 15. And he nailed it.

He sounded better than Eddie Vedder did at the time. He could just pull off Kurt Cobain, kind of Layne Staley, Perry Farrell thing about him that was just very special.

He had this wide range, he could really pull off any genre – it was amazing.”
