In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar, Linkin Park singer Mike Shinoda spoke about music world. He also talked about his first solo album “Post Traumatic”.
Interviewer said “you can put together your dream band of musicians alive and gone – who would you choose?”, Shinoda responded:
“Having talked about all of that, I’d definitely say Hendrix on guitar and while he’s there playing guitar, he might as well sing a little bit too, right?
I was always a big John Bonham fan. I’m blanking on his name. Steve Gadd. Is that who I’m thinking of.”
Interviwer asked: “Who would you have on bass?”, Shinoda said:
“Geddy Lee is so incredible but he would he be the right guy with those guys? [Laughs]”
Interviewer said “maybe you need some kind of funk player like James Jamerson”, Shinoda responded:
“I have this thing right now and especially in the last year of thinking what an amazing vocalist Chester was separate from being my friend and an amazing guy. But just as a vocalist and what an incredible singer he was.
I have this thing in my head about bands and there have been so many bands over the years that have so many great singers in the band. That makes me think of like, “Well, why not have Paul McCartney in the band?””
“He’s (McCartney) a great bass player but he’s also one of the world’s best singers.
At that point, I’m not even in the band. At that point, I’d just want to let those guys play including Chester and I’ll just produce it or something. [Laughs]”
