During her appearance on Rock & Tell, Halestorm’s Lzzy Hale remembered the time she met Joan Jett backstage, and she screwed with Lzzy.

Back in 1997, Lzzy Hale co-founded the hard rock band Halestorm with her brother Arejay Hale. Although Hale gained success as the lead singer of Halestorm, she also made several contributions to other artists’ works such as Stone Sour, Machine Gun Kelly, Lindsey Stirling, and more.

As she states every time possible, Lzzy Hale is a big fan of Joan Jett. She uses Joan Jett’s signature guitar Melody Maker, and with Halestorm, she covered Joan Jett & The Blackhearts song ‘I Hate Myself For Loving You.’ Hale apparently sees Jett as one of her idols, and when she met her backstage one time, she was so nervous that Jett ‘screwed with her.’

Speaking to Rock & Tell, Lzzy Hale remembered when she met Jett backstage, and the musician joked around with her. Hale recalled that Halestorm opened for Joan Jett one time, and she asked Jett to sign her Melody Maker guitar backstage. The musician said that she does not sign guitars, but Lzzy failed to understand it was a joke because she was really nervous.

Lzzy Hale told Rock & Tell about the incident that:

“The last autograph from one of my idols that I’ve received was actually Joan Jett. We got to open up for her a couple of years ago. I have had her signature Melody Maker guitar forever. When we opened up for her I asked her if she could sign the guitar.

I was so nervous. I was like, ‘We’d already done this set. We were already talking about the weather.’ She was kind of screwing with me because she was like, ‘Oh, I don’t sign guitars.’ I automatically was like, ‘Well, that’s okay.’ But she was like, ‘No, I’m screwing with you. It’s fine, I’ll sign the guitar.’ She knew that I was a little nervous about it.”
