Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale recently spoke to Metal Hammer and reflected on the making process of the band’s upcoming album. Hale revealed that they’ve taken some risks, but it’s been an album that truly reflects Halestorm’s style.

As you probably know, Halestorm began recording their fifth studio album, titled ‘Back From The Dead,’ in the first months of 2021. However, they had to record it in distant studios due to the pandemic conditions. Halestorm’s fourth studio album, ‘Vicious,’ was released in 2018, so the band is back after four years of break, which made the fans quite excited about the upcoming album.

They released the first song off the new album, ‘Back From The Dead,’ on August 17, 2021. The song mostly received positive comments and was considered a strong start for the new album. The album’s second single, ‘The Steeple,’ also arrived approximately two weeks ago. Besides the announcement of the second single, the band also informed the fans that the forthcoming album will drop on May 6, 2022.

Lzzy Hale has reflected on the challenging making process of the album several times before in different interviews. She talked about how producing new music saved her during the pandemic. She now discussed the risks they’ve taken during the recent interview and said that it is still not clear whether they will be able to play these songs live due to the ongoing pandemic. So, they tried to do it as powerful as possible and worked on the sound quality. Hale also added that for her, this album is the ‘most Halestorm record yet’ as they tried to experiment within the boundaries that make Halestorm what it is.

Here is how Lzzy Hale reflected on the risks they’ve taken on the new Halestorm record:

“Because we weren’t sure whether we would even be able to play these songs live, we just said we were going to go big or go home. The album is absolutely on 11 performance-wise, technicality-wise, sound-wise. It’s very big, we don’t half-ass anything. To add to what Arejay was saying, I think this is the most ‘Halestorm’ record yet. Instead of deciding to go left or right or experiment, we were more or less experimenting within our own power and what really makes Halestorm what it is.”
