The co-founder and frontman of Dire Straits, Mark Knopfler has been appreciated by his fans over his latest release, the soundtrack for the 1997 film ‘Metroland’ on limited edition clear vinyl, to celebrate the Record Store Day 2020.

The Instagram team of the British legend, Mark Knopfler, has announced that the 23-years-old soundtrack album of the 90’s iconic film, ‘Metroland,’ is now available for the first time on limited edition clear vinyl.

The project, which has been produced to support the UK’s independent record shops, features original compositions by Mark, alongside tracks by Django Reinhardt, Elvis Costello, Hot Chocolate, and more.

Record Store Day is the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture. Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion.

Thousands more shops celebrate the day around the globe in what’s become one of the biggest annual events on the music calendar. Due to COVID-19 concerns, this year’s RSD is taking place a little differently with the product being split across 3 new dates, 29th August, 26th September, and 24th October.

Here’s what was said in the latest Instagram post of Mark Knopfler:

“Released today, the soundtrack for the 1997 film ‘Metroland’ is now available for the first time on limited edition clear vinyl, to celebrate Record Store Day 2020.

The release features original compositions by Mark, alongside tracks by Django Reinhardt, Elvis Costello, Hot Chocolate (Band) and more.
