During a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar, Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton admitted a surprising fact about late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington.

He talked about his collaboration with Chester, and said that ‘I didn’t really know Chester before we started working on the tune.’

Interviewer asked:

“You worked really closely with Chester, it sounds like you guys had a really good bond – why do you think that was?”

Mark Morton responded:

“Well, I don’t know, I don’t think you can plan those kinds of things, I think they just happen. That kind of rhythm and dynamic and creative dialogue, I don’t know how you can plan for that.

I didn’t really know Chester before we started working on the tune. We corresponded a little bit and talked a little bit, but I really didn’t know him until we got in a room and really started tearing that song apart. We were trying each other’s ideas and we had real chemistry.

I hope he felt the same way, he must have because there was a real honesty between us about which parts of my ideas, he liked and which parts he didn’t and vice versa. There was a real openness to try anything and that made it fun and it also made it move really quick. We didn’t rush it, but things really just fell together really quickly because we were both so dialed in and so focused on the song.”
