According to the announcement made from Megadeth’s official Instagram account, the fans can now gain access to their official cryptocurrency, $MEGA, which will include premium benefits and exclusives.
As a popular reality of the digital age, cryptocurrencies basically correspond to digital or virtual money, mainly in the form of coins and tokens. Many people have found them appealing because cryptocurrencies are not under government control, which means they are decentralized. Some of the well-known cryptocurrencies are Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Binance Coin.
In recent years, streaming platforms contributed to the musicians’ income, but cryptocurrencies also have considerable potential to help the music industry. Kings of Leon was the first band to realize this potential as they released their eighth album, ‘When You See Yourself,’ as an NFT, which turns the digital works of art into verifiable assets.
Besides Kings of Leon, Avenged Sevenfold, and Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda also released limited editions of their works in the form of NFTs. Megadeth took a step forward, and they launched the band’s official cryptocurrency, $MEGA. It will give the fans a big opportunity to access some additional materials that they cannot find on another platform.
Here is how Megadeth announced their official cryptocurrency:
“Megadeth Coin is here! $MEGA, the official cryptocurrency of Megadeth and our community, is available now!
By buying, holding, and transacting with $MEGA, fans will gain access to exclusives and premium benefits. Cyber Army members that also hold $MEGA will unlock additional exclusives, access, and offers.
As a thank you to the Cyber Army, we’re gifting $MEGA to all of our Premium, Deluxe and Free members. Swipe up in our story to claim your free $MEGA now!”
Megadeth had already stepped into the blockchain world when they sold their digital art piece named ‘Vic Rattlehead: Genesis’ in the form of NFT last April. It seems like Megadeth will continue to actively benefit from the new digital opportunities to increase their income from the music industry.
