Billboard’s list of U.S. Money Makers: The Top Paid Musicians Of 2020 recently revealed the richest bands and musicians of the last year. The richest musician was Taylor Swift, having $34.1 million from publishing, sales, and streaming and the highest-paid band was Eagles with gaining $23.3 million.

Also, the most popular and commercially successful rock and metal bands, which are Queen, AC/DC, Metallica, and Pink Floyd, took a spot on the list of the highest-paid musicians and bands. Every one of them has been pursuing successful music careers with their latest projects and tours, alongside their previous iconic works. However, one of them earned more money than the other legendary bands.

Queen Earned $13.2 Million

Queen has become a trailblazing rock band since its formation in 1970. Freddie Mercury’s remarkable voice and songwriting skills and other members’ unique ways of playing their instruments made the Queen members millionaires. The band has released fifteen studio albums and almost every one of them was certified platinum.

The band is currently one of the richest rock bands of all time thanks to their albums which have sold more than 200 million copies and ranked at the top of the charts. Even though Queen hasn’t produced any new albums for decades, the band continued touring as Queen + Adam Lambert until the outbreak of Covid-19. Queen earned $13.2 million ($5.5 million from streaming, $5.3 million from sales, $2.4 million from publishing) last year and was named the highest-paid band among Metallica, AC/DC, and Pink Floyd.

AC/DC Gained $10.1 Million

AC/DC has had always a great influence on both their peers and the new generation bands with their revolutionary works. The band released seventeen studio albums and the latest one ‘Power Up’ was released on November 13, 2020. Even though the band has been through several line-up changes and hiatuses, they preserved their productivity and commercial success.

The band became the ninth-highest-selling artist in the USA and the 16th-best-selling artist worldwide after they selling more than 200 million copies worldwide. AC/DC gained $10.1 million ($4.3 million from streaming, $4 million from sales, $1.8 million from publishing) and became the second richest band after Queen in 2020 thanks to the popularity of ‘Power Up’ and also their other timeless records.

Metallica Had $9 Million

Metallica has been considered one of the most influential and commercially successful metal bands for decades. They released ten iconic studio albums that were certified as platinum and performed countless concerts. Also, they recently announced that they were about to start working on their eleventh studio album following a five-year break.

As one of the Big Four, Metallica is known to be the most commercially successful metal band of all time, thanks to their record-breaking sales, and is the only metal band that took place on Billboard’s list of ‘U.S. Money Makers: The Top Paid Musicians Of 2020’ with having $9 million ($3.9 million from streaming, $3.7 million from sales, $1.4 million from publishing).

Pink Floyd Earned $8.8 Million

Pink Floyd has not been only known for its iconic works but also for the controversies and power struggles between Roger Waters and David Gilmour. These tensions caused several line-up changes within the band which surprisingly didn’t prevent them from releasing fifteen best-selling and iconic studio albums.

The band has preserved its place in the lists of the richest bands even though Pink Floyd members haven’t been performing live shows and recording new materials for years. The band earned $8.8 million ($3.2 million from streaming, $4.3 million from sales, $1.3 million from publishing) last year and became the fourth richest band in comparison to Metallica, AC/DC, and Queen.
