In the competition organized by VO5, Metallica was awarded the “Best International Band” at NME Awards 2017. The band were up against the likes of Tame Impala, Green Day, Kings Of Leon, A Tribe Called Quest and Tegan And Sara in the same category.
NME Awards 2017 ceremony was held in Copenhagen. Metallica could not attend this ceremony and they sent a video to accept the award.
Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield and Rob Trujillo were seen on the video and Lars said:
“It’s three quarters of Metallica hitting you from Copenhagen. We’re bummed we couldn’t be there tonight to join you in all the middle fingering going around the joint, but we’re very appreciative of this.
We hope you guys are having a crazy and fun night. Kirk [Hammett], who is also an international kind of guy, sends his love.”
Metallica was deemed worthy of this honor because they had a number of members from different countries.
