Metallica lead guitarist Kirk Hammett penned down an emotional message after the death of former UFO guitarist, Paul Tonka Chapman, on Instagram and sent his condolence to Paul’s family and lovers.

On Facebook, Paul Chapman, who is the son of former UFO guitarist Paul Tonka, has posted an official announcement to confirm the death of the guitarist.

In the statement, there was no information about the cause of death, and Paul just mentioned how a great person and dad he was. Here’s the official statement:

“It is with a heavy heart writing this, today is my dad’s 66th birthday. He passed away earlier this afternoon. He was a brilliant, energetic, loving, and most carefree person and the first man I ever loved.

Everyone he came in contact with loved him. No adored him. will keep everyone posted on his celebration of life. I appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers as his family grieves and processes everything at this time. I love you Dad. So much.”

On Instagram, Kirk Hammett wrote:

“Paul Chapman, the one guitarist who had the chops and testicles to be able to fill in the gap left by Michael Schenker of UFO: RIP bro, hope you are getting some good licks in somewhere!”
