Gene Hoglan, who is known for his drumming works for Death, Testament, and Dark Angel, spoke in the recent interview with Metal Hammer and made a controversial statement about Metallica.
In the conversation, Gene stated that the drummer of Metallica, Lars Ulrich, used his own drum parts in the legendary song, ‘One,’ from Dark Angel’s Darkness Descends song without a doubt.
If you could listen carefully, after the 4-minute mark, the legendary part of One starts, and this drum part actually really similar to the Darkness Descends’ into, which starts after the 45th second.
Here is what Gene Hoglan said:
“The whole everything. The drum part, definitely. And that’s why I just thought it was kind of funny. The first line in the whole thing is, ‘Darkness…’
“And it comes right from ‘Darkness Descends,’ opening track on the second record. So, as soon as you hear it, you’d catch it.”
