During a recent interview with Forbes, Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich has revealed the song he would like to listen to with AC/DC guitarist Angus Young.

Interviewer asked:

“If you could share your whiskey with one other rock star, who would it be?”

Lars responded:

“Bon Scott (late AC/DC singer). Pretty engaging fellow. I don’t think I ever met him. I saw them live in ’76 and ’77.

I met Angus Young and the rest of the band a bunch, and eventually toured with them. From what I hear, he would be a fun person.

The song I’d like to listen to with him is ‘Overdose’ – not meant in weird way – it’s one of those deep cuts that still sound as relevant as ever. Literally a three-chord riff. To my knowledge, they’ve never done it live. That song – is the essence.”

Interviewer asked ‘What did you learn while making Blackened?’, Lars replied:

“First, people underestimate how much experience, knowledge and specificity goes into being at the top of whatever path you choose. ‘Hey, I’m successful in music, so I can be an actor or a painter.’

Then you go into another world and realize how easy it is to humiliate yourself. Watching Dave [Pickerell, distiller], you see how much knowledge and experience goes into his craft.

Second, I didn’t know I could feel this connected to a whiskey. I told Dave I wanted something smooth and drinkable, and I didn’t know that was possible. I haven’t exactly been a whiskey aficionado on my journeys the past 30 years. [Laughs].

And third, the red tape, the rules of selling alcohol, shipping it, different laws in different states – one minefield after another. You need a lot of patience.”
