Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready gave an interview to Guitar World in which he revealed that the band has lots of new material that is waiting to be released.
In December 2019, Pearl Jam announced their plans to tour Europe in the summer of 2020. They then released their eleventh studio album ‘Gigaton’ on March 27, 2020, and announced tour dates in North America, which they later had to postpone due to the pandemic.
In May 2021, the band announced the release of a digital collection that includes their 200 concerts dating from 2000 to 2013. The collection of over five thousand songs titled ‘Deep’ is made accessible for the members of the band’s Ten Club.
On September 18, 2021, Pearl Jam played their first show since 2018 at the Sea.Hear.Now Festival in Asbury Park, New Jersey, along with former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer who made his debut as a touring musician with Pearl Jam.
As the band hasn’t released any new material since ‘Gigaton,’ fans are excited to hear more about Pearl Jam’s plans in 2022. Due to that, Guitar World’s Jacob Uitti asked Mike McCready what’s next for Pearl Jam during a recent interview.
As a response, McCready said they are planning to tour Europe and United States this summer. The guitarist also mentioned their plan to put out some music as they have lots of new material to release.
While talking about Pearl Jam’s future plans, Mike McCready told Guitar World the following:
“We hopefully will be touring Europe in the summer and maybe in the States before that. With Omicron, who knows what’s going to go on? I hope we can release some music because we have a lot of music that we haven’t put out.”
Apart from making music with Pearl Jam, Mike McCready is also a member of other side project bands including The Rockfords. Recently, The Rockfords reissued their self-titled debut LP and released the lead single from the LP, ‘Silver Lining,’ on January 14.
