Sons of Apollo drummer Mike Portnoy (also former Dream Theater drummer) has shared a statement on his Instagram page and explained why he respects rapper Post Malone.

Here’s the statement:

“Honestly, I am not a Post Malone fan (yet, but I’m willing to learn…) but Max Portnoy (his son) turned me onto his knuckle tattoos and I have to say, these are badass! Much respect for these tributes!!

OK, made me think…8 knuckles: 8 fallen heroes…who would you pick??? I have my picks, but I’ll let y’all post yours first…lay em on me! (Incase it isn’t obvious, they must be RIP..)”

According to Beat Media, Post Malone talked about his finger tattoos and said:

“I only get people who inspire me tattooed on me. Without these guys I wouldn’t even be making music.”

Portraits on his fingers:

1- Bankroll Fresh
2- Dimebag Darrell (Pantera)
3- George Harrison (The Beatles)
4- John Lennon (The Beatles)
5- Stevie Ray Vaughan
6- Kurt Cobain (Nirvana)
7- Elvis Presley

As you might know, Post Malone is a big fan of Metallica and he covered Metallica’s classic song “Nothing Else Matters” on stage.
