Former drummer of Dream Theater and current member of Sons Of Apollo, Mike Portnoy, took to his official Instagram account to share a new photo with his former bandmate, John Petrucci and explained how it feels like to play with him once again.
As you might remember, Mike left Dream Theater in 2010, and he is not working with his close friend John since then. However, John decided to release his second solo album named ‘Terminal Velocity,’ and he reunited with Mike for this album.
Terminal Velocity’s teaser released two days ago, and the full version is gonna be released on August 28. Petrucci recorded nine songs for the album, and the length of the album is taking 55 minutes. Also, John worked with bass guitarist Dave LaRue, alongside Mike Portnoy.
Mike said that he is so happy and excited to play with John again after ten years and looking forward to listening to the full album. Moreover, Mike stated that he can’t wait to hear the reactions from the fans after they hear the album.
Here is what Mike Portnoy said:
“Really nice to see everybody’s incredible responses to the first release from Terminal Velocity yesterday and the excitement & happiness to hear John Petrucci & myself playing together for the first time in over 10 years! Thank you for all the kind words…
There’s been a few photos that were posted that were too cool to not share… I love the one that Ultimate Guitar used putting the first pic of the two us together from 1985 side by side with the latest pic from the Terminal Velocity Sessions 35 years later (almost in the same pose!! Total coincidence…)
And also this other one that a fan posted showing us in 3 different eras of working together from 1985, 2002 & 2020…very nice! I can’t wait for you all to hear the whole album in less than 3 weeks…”
