Mike Portnoy, who is the former drummer of Dream Theater and current member of Sons Of Apollo, mourned the death of Kansas vocalist Robby Steinhardt via his official Instagram account.
Robby Steinhardt was also a violinist besides being the singer and the frontman of Kansas. Sadly, the frontman passed away three days ago at the age of 71 due to complications of acute pancreatitis.
Shortly after hearing the news about Robby, Mike wanted to share his feelings on social media and pay his tribute to the iconic frontman by posting a soulful photo of the late frontman who was clearly very special for the drummer.
While mourning Robby’s passing, Portnoy praised the musician for his talent and contribution to Kansas and their distinct sound. As Mike said, Robby played a big role in the early days of the band and contributed to the creation of their ‘early classic albums.’
Mike Portnoy wrote:
“So sorry to hear of the passing of Robby Steinhardt of Kansas… He was such a big part of their sound on those early classic albums.”
