Former drummer of Dream Theater, Mike Portnoy, shared his feelings about the death of legendary vocalist Emitt Rhodes by sharing a new post on his official Instagram account and mourned his legacy.

Emitt Rhodes is known for his perfect voice besides his audio engineering skills. In his career, he released six studio albums and over ten singles. Unfortunately, he passed away yesterday at the age of 70.

Mike saddened after hearing his death and showed how a great musician he was by saying that his early solo albums could have passed The Beatles icon Paul McCartney’s solo albums. Also, he stated that he was a one-man Beatles and paid his tribute to the legend.

Here is what Mike Portnoy said:

Sad to hear of the passing of Emitt Rhodes…for those not hip to his music, his early solo albums from the early ’70s could’ve easily passed as McCartney solo albums…

He was a bit of a one-man Beatles and those albums are absolutely pop essentials.”
