Linkin Park icon Mike Shinoda unveiled one of the first songs he recorded with the legendary late vocalist Chester Bennington and revealed his opinion about the song by sharing a new post on his official Instagram account.
While the 20th anniversary of the band’s first album getting close, Linkin Park announced ‘Hybrid Theory: 20th Anniversary Edition‘ box-set to celebrate the release of their milestone album. As we learned from the official press release, the box-set will contain rare demos, never-before-seen videos, and many more.
To make a teaser for the edition, Linkin Park released an unreleased song of the band, She Couldn’t. Less than ten hours, the song viewed over 250K times. Also, Mike shared his thoughts about this song via Instagram.
Mike stated that this song was one of the first demos they recorded with Chester and explained why it is so important to him. Mike said that they focused on synth sound and vocal loops instead of guitars. Also, Mike showed his gratefulness to the fans for their interest and thanked them for supporting the band for years.
Here is what Mike Shinoda said:
“She Couldn’t is one of the earliest demos we made when Chester joined the band. Two things stand out about the song, to me:
1.) The programmed beat and focus on synth sounds and vocal loops (rather than heavy guitars) foreshadowed a future of the band many years after Hybrid Theory. In searching for our ‘first sound,’ we set the groundwork for our later evolution.
2.) The softly-sung ‘you’re not alone’ refrain reminded me that, although we debuted with a song screaming ‘shut up,’ what most fans came to find out was that empathy and community were just as integral a part of LP’s DNA from the very beginning.
Sincerely, thank you for the excitement about the #hybridtheory20 package. We’re so grateful to have had you with us all these years.”
