Mötley Crüe guitarist and the most silent member of the band on social media, Mick Mars, posted a tweet to pay tribute to the legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen following the devastating news of his death.
As you may know, for the last couple of days, the rock music community has been mourning after the tragic loss of a legend, Eddie Van Halen. Van Halen’s co-founder and lead guitarist Eddie had been struggling with throat cancer for a long while. However, this wasn’t the first time he had to battle with cancer.
Back in 2000, Van Halen was diagnosed with tongue cancer and underwent various treatments including a surgery that removed a third of his tongue. Later in 2002, Eddie was declared as cancer-free. Unfortunately, he was hospitalized in 2019 after battling throat cancer over the previous five years.
Following the news of Eddie’s death, many musicians and celebrities paid tribute to the iconic guitarist with their personal statements on social media platforms. Mötley Crüe guitarist Mick Mars, who has never been an active user of social media, broke his silence and shared a tweet on his Twitter account to bid farewell to Eddie one last time.
Here’s what Mick Mars wrote on his tweet:
“R.I.P. Edward Van Halen. 10-6-20“
