Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil posted a photo of recently deceased guitar legend Eddie Van Halen and wrote an emotional message to bid his ‘guitar hero’ farewell.
Van Halen’s co-founder and renowned guitarist Eddie Van Halen has sadly passed away on October 6, 2020, at the age of 65. Eddie’s son Wolfgang announced the death of his father after a long battle with throat cancer.
This actually wasn’t first time Eddie had to struggle with cancer in his life. Back in 2000, Eddie was diagnosed with tongue cancer. He had to undergo several treatments and beat cancer in 2002. However, last year, it was discovered that Eddie has been traveling to Europe as a part of his throat cancer treatment.
Although Mötley Crüe’s lead singer Vince Neil was not an active user of his social media accounts, he posted a photo of Eddie Van Halen on his Twitter account ten minutes later he heard the tragic loss and penned down an emotional message to pay tribute to the guitar legend. In his message, Vince referred to Eddie as his guitar hero and friend and recalled the time they did tours together.
Here’s how Vince Neil paid tribute to Eddie:
“I just found out that my guitar hero Eddie had passed away. I have fond memories of the tours we did together! He’s up there shredding!!! RIP my friend.”
