Mötley Crüe co-founder and bassist Nikki Sixx shared a recent photo on his Instagram page and penned a long letter about why he is shooting in less mainstream areas.

Nikki also answered long-time questions about if he’s ever scared when he was shooting in those areas.

Here is his statement:

“I’ve been asked a lot over the years if I am ever worried or scared when I am shooting in less mainstream areas. I always try to explain that we’re all human. We have basics needs like a place to sleep, food, water and hopefully some kind of love or friendship.

Today was a great example of just hanging out and enjoying the joys of life. These two gentlemen were simply comparing their knives when I asked them to pose for me. We all had a laugh after.

People are people. You can always find the good if your willing to look. If you wanna meet some of the nicest people in your life head #dtla around Skid Row. Take whatever you can spare and hand it out. Talk to people. Ask where they are from.#LeicaSl #35mm @leica_camera #nikkisixxphotography #streetphotography”
