Maynard James Keenan has a long history of being present in many fields to find his passion in the world. Keenan is a known singer and a songwriter who is in three successful bands. He has released a total of 13 albums with Tool, Puscifer, and A Perfect Circle. His fans admire him for his music and songwriting skills in all three of the bands.
Earlier in his life, before he made his way into the music industry, Keenan had joined the US army to save money to attend art school. After he quit the army, he managed to get into an Art School to study interior design and set construction. After attending school, he met Adam Jones, who suggested they form the band ‘Tool.’
Although he was around trying to find himself in the army, in interior design and music, it seems like Keenan has now finally found his happy place. His grandparents made wine in Northern Italy, and he has been interested in the trade since his childhood. Keenan did find success with his music but his vineyards currently seem more appealing to him.
Is Keenan Now A Winemaker Or A Musician?
Currently, his friends and family regard him as more of a winemaker or a business person rather than a musician. If he has found his element in his vineyards, it might be difficult for him to continue his musical career.
However, there hasn’t been an announcement about whether or not he will quit music. In fact, he released the ‘Existential Reckoning’ album with Puscifer in October 2020, less than a year ago.
Nonetheless, Keenan’s Twitter and Instagram posts are currently all about the process of making wine. He posted the winemaking videos several times, which included processing the raw grape on its way to the bottle. In his videos, he added music from Puscifer to make it more pleasing for his followers.
It seems like the singer is keeping himself very busy with his vineyards and becoming more of a business person rather than a musician. He did state about Tool that they’ll ‘make music together until one of us is dead,’ but they have left their fans hanging since 2019.
