Mikio ‘Ko-Gami’ Fujioka, guitarist of Japanese pop-metal band Babymetal, has died at the age of 36, according to a post on Babymetal’s Facebook page.

According to his wife’s Twitter announcement, he fell from a height on December 30 while at an observation deck and died on January 5 after his condition deteriorated.

Babymetal shared an emotional statement on their Facebook page as follows:

“‪The “Little” Guitar Kami of #BABYMETAL ‘s #Kamiband has passed away in the METAL GALAXIES. We hope that he is now with his GUITAR MASTER A.Holdsworth and enjoying an epic guitar session with him. ‬

We are the one‬, ‪Together‬, ‪We’re the only one‬, You are the one‬, ‪Forever‬, #RIP #THEONE ‬”

Mikio, 36, was born on 19 January, 1981 and was known to fans of the band that as Ko-Gami, or The Little God.

According to Metro.co.uk, Mikio was a talented guitarist who graduated from the Musicians Institute of Osaka in 2000 at the age of 19; he had released several albums and also toured with Trick Box and MMM.
